Rally in support of AFSCME Local 3700
Oct 21 noon - 1:30
UI Quad near Foreign Language Building (south east side of quad)
"Support the AFSCME 3700 negotiating team rally" |
The University is offering little to nothing at the negotiating table,
left the last session 3 hours early and has sent out a negative message
to all our bargaining unit members. One of their last wage proposals
even asked for employees who have received a step wage increase since
the end of the contract to relinquish that money back to the UI...then
they have the nerve to say that we are giving false statements. They
put in writing that "the University has not submitted any proposals that
would take back any increases...during the period of the previous
contract." Now, since the previous contract stated that the steps would
continue for 13 pay periods after the expiration of the contract...it
seems that the UI statement is a falsehood...not the union's statement.
Most all of the proposals put forth by the University show an effort to
diminish the quality of our contract by either cutting the rights of the
Union and giving those rights all to management or cutting the rights of
the employees. One of the rights of employees that they intend to cut
is related to discipline. The UI proposal moves union notification to
the third level, thus leaving the employee with no representation at the
oral or written stages and the union only being notified when at the
suspension step.
Now, we need your help and support. The next round of negotiations are
scheduled for Oct 21 9-12. At noon we will be holding the rally as
follows:
Oct 21 noon - 1:30

"Support the AFSCME 3700 negotiating team rally"
Please come out and give us a hand to carry a sign, a voice to sound
your support and a body to walk or roll with us!
See you all there!!!!!!!! |
