A “Peace Now” report claims that infrastructure and construction work is being carried out at 470 sites throughout the territories, while at 50 of them it exceeds the communities’ official boundaries.
According to the report, 3,700 housing units are currently being built in the territories, while infrastructure work is taking place for thousands of additional units.
“In spite of the government’s promises to dismantle all illegal outposts, the on-ground situation shows that the sites are only being expanded”, the report states. “It is clear that these efforts are meant to create a continuous line of settlements which would foil any effort to evacuate those areas in the future”.
The report stated that one new outpost, “Ma’avar Michmash” near Ramallah, was erected while 19 others had grown.
The movement publishes a bi-monthly report based on aerial photographs. In its previous June report, “Peace Now” said that a major expansion of Gaza settlements was taking place. It added that the same trend was evident in July.
