The right-wing has focused on this cartoon. They are upset about the connection between the horrors of wars in the pasts and present. The worst thing, one said, is that the plane that dropped the napalm on Kim Phuc "wasn't even us – her injuries were caused by a South Vietnamese aircraft dropping napalm, not a U.S. plane." If would say that if you want a campaign against those who commit such atrocities, and those who support them, if you have such a standard for the WTC, then the standard should also apply to us. Who do they think supplied both the plane and the napalm that fell on Kim Phuc?
I think the cartoon if completely appropriate and should make us all reflect what can happen when you decide to go to war. |
