We were at the scene. CNN is trying to villify the protestors, and ignores police aggression- duh. |
CNN reported today that a police detective was attacked by protestors during last night's poor people's march from the UN to Madison Square Garden. You reported that he was knocked off his scooter and rendered unconscious. This is a very incomplete and slanted report, which grossly misrepresents the facts.
My partner and I were right there when the incident occurred. We were walking with the crowd, facing the Garden, when we heard the revving of a motorbike engine behind us. We turned to see a plain clothes, African American motorcyclist, white long sleeve shirt, with a shiny, black German Reich style helmet charging into our line from behind us.
HE CHARGED INTO THE CROWD, in what I can only describe as an assault.
The crowd encircled the motorist, who we didn't even realize was a cop until some time after the commotion settled. The crowd, including us, was shouting at him from, basically, a state of shock at just having been violently charged into. The motorist proceeded to rev his engine, lunge forward into the crowd, who resisted and attempted to stop him from advancing. He then turned his front wheel to the right, hit the gas, and literally tore into a group of people who were pretty tightly packed.
At that time, he and his motor bike were knocked to the ground. This was AFTER he persistently charged into and assaulted a crowd of civilians.
In short, this motorist, who is reportedly an undercover police detective, started it, and endangered the safety of everyone in the vicinity. His attack on us started a crowd surge that could have resulted in a stampede, were it not for the restraint of the protestors.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the violence against the cop, as reported by Headline News. This is due to the fact that we were literally thrown out of the way by news media. My partner was grabbed by the arm by a large TV cameraman and shoved back out of his way as he advanced on the scene. I followed her.
But I can say that any injuries sustained by the cop would have been a result of RETALIATION for his original and persistent assault on a significant number of people.
I just saw your follow up report. It creates the distinct impression that the cop did nothing to provoke the attack against him. That is a bold-face lie. |
