Community Radio WEFT Airing Special Alternative DNC Coverage This Week |

Community Radio WEFT is airing special alternative coverage of the Democratic National Convention this week, including a daily half hour wrap-up and call-in with guests from the local Democrat, Republican and Green parties. |
As part of WEFT's commitment to providing alternative coverage of election issues, WEFT will pre-empt regular programming Monday July 26 throug Friday July 30th.
Our special coverage begins with Democracy Now!'s "Breaking with Convention: War, Peace and the Presidency," broadcast live from 6 until 8am Monday through Friday with one hour repeated during the normal 4pm "Democracy Now!" slot.
From 7pm-8pm next/this Monday through hursday, we will broadcast a "Flashpoints" discussions and analysis of the Latino vote.
From 8-8:30pm, a local host will take your calls as we debate the issues and the Democratic National Convention with a local Democrat, Green and Republican.
From 8:30-11pm, we bring you live coverage of the Convention with analysis and special interviews from Pacifica reporters. The last hour of this coverage will be a live national call-in.
We will repeat this special coverage during the Republican National Convention in August.
The schedule for the 8 PM local call in programs is:
Monday
Host: Paul Riismandel, host of "Media Geek," 5:30pm Fridays
Guests: Fred Welch (R), Catherine Hogue (D) and Ken Urban (G)
Tuesday
Host: Kimberlie Kranich, co-host of "Womyn Making Waves," 1pm Sundays
Guests: Cleveland Jefferson (D), Deb Feinen (R) and Zach Miller (G)
Wednesday
Host: Jeff Nicholson-Owens, host of "Digital Citizen," 8pm alternating Wednesdays
Guests: Susan Rodgers (G), Traci Nally (R), Belden Fields, independent democratic socialist
Thursday
Hosts: Kimberlie Kranich
Guests: Kathy Ennen (D), Jennifer Walling or John Wason (G) and Jason Barickman (R) |
