A call to arms… To The Hip Hop Community and people of color in general
If you receive your information from the popular media you may have seen a little about the recent protests against the forces of globalization that have been staged here in the U.S. and abroad. Let me tell you that contrary to what has been portrayed it is NOT people expressing free speech or about misguided youth rebelling against authority. This is what the government and the media want you to think!
It is about the power of corporations, the government and most importantly for the poor and people of color of the world… it is about LIFE and DEATH.
For those of you that are descended from an oppressed group…. African-Americans, Jews, Native Americans and all the rest that I don't have room to name… For those of you that know not to trust the government, the media and their lies… For those of you that call yourselves "gods", and claim or even just aspire to righteousness… Keep reading…
We live in a world of increasing social and economic inequality in which the west (primarily the United States and the democracies of Western Europe) dominate and oppress the poorer and predominantly brown countries of the world. But you probably already know this… What this means is that if you are in this country YOU, I, WE have become the oppressors, the slave owners, the masters children. Whether you want it or not… IT'S BEING DONE IN YOUR NAME!
Before you say the "I haven't done anything, I don't have any power, I don't have the time or the money" let me warn you that this is the same excuse that every citizen has used during every genocide or period of oppression throughout time. Every white person that sat back while MY ancestors were enslaved, every pilgrim that took arms against the native peoples of this land and every citizen of Europe that sat on their hands and watched the Germans burn up the Jews.
If you would like to think that you are better than them… that you would fight, that you would stand up for those without a voice…. Its time to put up or shut up. Sorry to be harsh but this isn't about philosophies… people are dying every day and considering what the poor of the world have to go through so this country can do what it does, this is nothing.
What you can do…
1st. (As always) educate yourself Learn about the tools of oppression… The World Trade Organization, The Free Trade Area of the Americas, The World Bank, and the International Monetary fund. 2nd. Do something! Come out to the protests against the World Bank and the I.M.F. planned for September 29th and 30th in Washington D.C. Join the Revolt! Every time you think of what one of your ancestors suffered, every time that you speak self -righteously about what someone else didn't do in the past… Remember that someone, somewhere cant eat, cant get an education, or cant breathe because someone just put a bullet in their head so we can enjoy the benefits of the good OLE' U.S. of A. There are FREE busses leaving most major cities and heading down so you can lend your voice. Frankly it's the least you can do. Bottom line… it's a disgrace that so few of the people that have been on the front lines standing up for the poor and the brown people of the world have been the poor and the brown people of the US.

3rd. Get the word out Send this to everyone you know… every MC, DJ, Hardcore Hip-Hop Head that thinks they are righteous or aspires to be a revolutionary. Send it to everyone so that they will at least have to chose to ally themselves with the rich as opposed to the oppressed.
