            The latest Shortwave Report (June 11) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality (13.3MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.4MB) (29:00)
This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, Spanish National Radio, the Voice of Russia, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From Netherlands- As the praise was heaped on the presidency of Ronald Reagan in the US press, the rest of the world expressed a rather different perspective. The Dutch press is strongly divided on the new UN resolution on Iraq. A report on the situation in Rafah, destroyed a few weeks ago by Israeli soldiers.
From Spain- Yasser Arafat says he will work with Egypt to try to end the conflict with Israel while the fighting spread into Lebanon. Russian President Putin visited Mexico, the OAS has selected a new Secretary General, and the opposition in Venezuela made threats if the recall referendum is delayed. Then a press editorial on the UN resolution in Iraq.
From Russia- Russia, which often refers to Moscow as the "new Houston," reported a 24% increase in exports in the first 4 months of this year. Major US oil firms are looking at a new oil and gas terminal on the Barren Sea. Then a commentary on the Arab rejection of a new, Western created, plan for the so-called "Greater Middle East."
     From Cuba- Lawyers for Saddam Hussein continue to be denied access to their client, as is the case with several other important Iraqi figures held by the US in secret locations. A Viewpoint on the demonstration by several hundred thousand supporters of Hugo Chavez in Venezuela. Finally a Viewpoint on the decision by the US government and military that torture is an acceptable way to treat prisoners of war.
      All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org
There are several other streams that work better-  http://www.freakradio.org  Freak Radio Santa Cruz (96.3fm) now streams this program on Friday at 9:30am (PST)
