SBC posted $8.5 Billion in profit on only $40 billion in revenue--a profit margin of over 20%.
SBC CEO Edward Whitacre received a $20 million in pay last year.
SBC is asking to shift health care costs onto employees and decrease job security.
SBC's land line telephone and its cell phone (Cingular) operations are both union. Its DSL service is largely non-union with customer service centers based in India.
In the past two years SBC eliminated over 20,000 union jobs.
