Bicyclists, join the Critical Mass ride this Friday 5:15 PM, gathering at the Alma Mater, the SE corner of Green and Wright St. |
Critical Mass is when a group of bicyclists ride together on the streets and experience what it would be like if there were more bikes on the road. In mass group, bicyclists feel safer, and have more fun. Motorists can't so easily ignore a critical mass of bikes, and are forced to recognize bikes existence on and right to share the road.
On a critical mass ride we take a one-hour loop ride through the busy streets of Champaign-Urbana to raise awareness of the fact that bikes have a right to safely share the road with motor vehicles. The ride is not race, and anyone on a self-powered vehicle is welcome.
If you've ever tried to use your bike to get around town, you know that it can be scary and sometimes dangerous out there. When you ride with Critical Mass, you don't feel so alone.
The ride begins the last Friday of every month (this month, it's Aug. 31) 5:15 PM, gathering at the Alma Mater, the SE corner of Green and Wright St.
All are invited. Bring a friend or two! |
