GRC Solidarity Fund Scholarships Available Current rating: 0
19 May 2004
Modified: 11:24:14 AM
KCSB has started a Solidarity Fund to help us with our goal of increasing
racial diversity. We can offer limited scholarships. Stations and
individuals are encouraged to donate to the Solidarity Fund.
The Grassroots Radio Coalition has a goal of increasing attendance by
people of color to the annual Grassroots Radio Conference. This year's
conference is June 24 - 27, hosted by KCSB in Santa Barbara, California.
Visit www.kcsb.org for details. Conference registration info, including cost of lodging and food, is available at http://grc.kcsb.org/reg.html

KCSB has started a Solidarity Fund to help us with our goal of increasing
racial diversity. We can offer limited scholarships. Stations and
individuals are encouraged to donate to the Solidarity Fund. Some stations
are donating a portion of the proceeds from Amy Goodman's book tour of
community radio. All donations of any amount are needed and will be deeply
appreciated. KCSB will accept the donations.

Stations and organizations are also encouraged to support folks from their
organizations if possible. Our hope is to supplement this support when
needed.

To apply, please send an email to cathm (at) prexar.com telling us about
yourself, your involvement in grassroots media, and why you would like to
attend the Grassroots Radio Conference, as well as some basic information
regarding your financial situation. Please let us know how much funding you
would need to attend GRC. Send the information in the body of the email.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND ATTACHMENTS.

Deadline to apply is May 28, although later applications will be considered
if funding allows.

Behr, Don Foster, and Cathy Melio will work together to dispense the funds.

Please print and post this notice at your station. Or better yet, print our
Solidarity Fund Poster from the website
http://grc.kcsb.org

We appreciate anything you can do to help recruit candidates and encourge
donations to the GRC Solidarity Fund.

Locally, WRFU, a new low-power FM community radio station will help local people accepted by the GRC Solidarity Fund by doing what we can to assist financially. While the station is not yet on the air, it is possible to begin work on one of our main goals, increasing the radio infrastructure to benefit our diverse community. You do not need to be associated with WRFU to apply.

We'll pass the hat and do what we can to aid you. If you apply for funding from the GRC Solidarity Fund to attend this year's conference, let us know at rfu (at) lists.groogroo.com and we will begin collecting funding to assist you. You must act now, as the deadline is May 28.
