The Prairie Greens will soon be running several candidates for county board and county wide office. At this month's Green Tea, we'll be discussing many of the issues that the Champaign County Board and County Wide Offices are faced with. |
We'd like your help in developing issue statements regarding county board issues! We need people who are educated on various county issues, people who are good writers to put our stances into words, and people who can tell us that the statements sound good! Anyone is welcome to attend.
Sample Issues
Voting Machines
the whole County Assessor situation
the future of public transportation
Zoning and development, particularly as it applies to the proposed "ring road" that might be built for the Wal-Mart.
the Animal Control Board position
The new county humane society building proposal
municipal energy
police review boards
Living Wage
We will also discuss what the Prairie Green Party Platform should be for more general issues (thoes not specifically tied to the County Board) if time permits.
All are welcome. Green Teas are on the third Wednesday of the month (MAy 19th) at 7:00 PM. They are held at the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center at 218 W. Main St., Suite 110 Urbana. This is between Strawberry Fields and The Office bar. We meet in the middle meeting room / art gallery. |
