ABC World News Featured Visionary Joel Salatin to Teach in Permaculture Design Course on July 27th! Current rating: 0
23 Apr 2004
Modified: 10:58:22 AM
Come hear Joel Salatin, renowned sustainable farmer, who will be appearing for a one-day engagement on July 27th as part of a 15-day Permaculture course hosted by the International Institute of Ecological Agriculture in collaboration with the Center for Sustainable Community. This is not to be missed!
One of the most sought-after experts in sustainable agriculture, Joel Salatin and his one-day appearance this July 27th in Kempton, Illinois are being eagerly anticipated by the agricultural community, and for good reason. Renowned for his innovative, cutting-edge strategies, Joel has identified and successfully resolved some of the biggest problems in conventional agriculture in the world. From 9am-5pm at the Kempton Legion Hall, Joel will be addressing a wide range of issues that should not be missed, including “creating the farm your children will want” and “making a white collar salary from a pleasant life in the country.”

A third generation alternative farmer, Joel has demonstrated the success of his techniques largely through the example he provides with his profitable, Shenandoah Valley farm. The farm services more than 400 customers, farmers' markets, metropolitan buying clubs, and 30 restaurants with salad bar beef, pastured poultry, eggmobile eggs, pigaerator pork, forage-based rabbits, pastured turkey and forestry products through relationship marketing.

The family's farm, Polyface Inc. (“The Farm of Many Faces”) has been featured in Smithsonian Magazine, National Geographic, and countless other radio, television, and print media. Profiled on the “Lives of the 21st Century” series with Peter Jennings on ABC World News, his after-broadcast chat room fielded more hits than any other segment to date.
Joel is the author of four books: Pastured Poultry Profit$ “Net $25,000 in 6 Months on 20 Acres,” Salad Bar Beef, You Can Farm: The Entrepreneur's Guide to Start and Succeed in a Farming Enterprise, and Family Friendly Farming: A Multi-Generational Home-Based Business Testament.

Inspiring one-on-one phone interviews prior to the visit, and face-to-face interviews at the events are available.
