Jo Thomas, Assistant Chancellor for Public Affairs at UIUC, interviewed Baby Doc Duvalier and wrote about the exodus of refugees from Haiti when she was a reporter for the New York Times. She will speak about the situation in Haiti (and the US) that led to the rise of Aristide.
Other speakers include Carl Estabrook (on Haiti and US foreign policy), Ricky Baldwin (on Haitian labor), and Al Kagan (on racism in action).
