This is the first communiqué from the Manifest Liberation Front. We are conscious citizens who have become disheartened and outraged by the actions of our government and the inaction of our people. Indifference must be shaken, apathy
shattered, and truths exposed. Therefore, in recognition of the anguish we have caused and the violence that has been instigated against our brothers and sisters in Iraq and Afghanistan, we will summarily execute a live pig. This public act will be timed in coordination with the first anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.
We have been shielded: our media has deliberately ignored over 10,000 Iraqi civilian casualties. We have been shielded: the coffins of American soldiers shrouded under the cover of night. We have been shielded: the luxury of insulation from the brutal reality of war. Enough! While the bombs may fall elsewhere, the war has always been and will always be at home. This abstraction will be made graphically visible on March 17th on the quad of Illinois State University at high noon.
