For the twin crimes of endorsing the two-state solution and pointing out the antisemitism of people like Wendy Campbell, I am now officially banned from SF-IMC.

I checked out those links that were supposedly posted by Wendy. If in fact she did post them, then gehrig is right, she actually is an anti-Semite. However, Zionists have a long, rich thick history of forging other people’s names to their posts here.

Therefore, we can in no way, shape or form be certain that those comments were posted by Wendy, assuming that she actually exists, of which we can’t be certain either. It is equally likely that they were posted by Zionists, trying to make this site look bad. They’ve done it before, many times. They weren’t the first people to do things like this, either. The seem to have learned it from another batch of colonialists who also preyed on their neighbors.

Nevertheless, I’ve decided to err on the side of caution and hide these comments, and the original post. Until concrete evidence is brought forth that Wendy did not post those comments, she’s banned from this site. Anti-Semites are not welcome here.
Neither are pro-Semites. Racism is racism, no matter which side of the aisle it comes from. So gehrig is banned, too. I’m fed up with his incessant, racist bullsh*t. If he posts again, it will be removed. If he does it twice, I’ll remove the last hundred things he wrote. If he does it a third time, I’ll remove everything he ever wrote.
Same goes for the rest of the Zionists. Zionism is racism. Racism may not be defended on this site, by anyone, at any time, for any reason. If you want to defend Zionism, do it on some other site. If you defend Zionism here in any way whatsoever, or say anything at all in favor of Israel, it will be removed. If you do it twice, you will banned. If you post again after that, I’ll remove everything you ever posted.
Yeah, I can do that. Unless, of course, one of the other editors gets to it first. Either way, preach racism, and you’re out of here.

What a child.
Wendy Campbell has been posting antisemitic things on SF-IMC for more than a year -- if you remember that essay I did last spring on antisemitism versus legit criticism of Israel, Wendy Campbell is one of the people I used as an example. More than a year of pouring antisemitica into SF-IMC, unhindered despite my complaints, turning a blind eye again and again, but nessie now says that in banning her he's going to "err on the side of caution."
What a pathetic joke.
Especially since, as even he would affirm, I have never said anything in SF-IMC more "racist" than my support for the two-state solution over the one-state solution -- a position that more than three quarters of both Jews and Arabs in America share -- which makes his bleating about "my racist bleating," simply, a lie.
At any rate, he is now enforcing a political dogma through pure Mussolini-style censorship.
As I mentioned in another post today, there was a brief discussion on imc-process on the creation of a discussion list on the topic of antisemitism and ways to handle it. I think nessie has just provided such a stellar example of how _not_ to handle it that maybe a list would be providential.

What morons. Here's the response I tried to post to SF-IMC, but the site seems to be slow or down:

Israel is not a monolithic entity. There are moderate and leftist supporters of Israel, some of whom are in positions of power, whose ideas are not only relevant to this debate, but are egregiously misrepresented by caricaturing them as racist hate speech.
This kind of equivocation on the part of the editors seems to me to be opportunistic and crass.
As for gehrig, I must concur with another poster that his motivation seems largely to expose holocaust deniers. That is not a racist project, since no one is claiming that holocaust deniers are anything but a small minority of critics of Israel's policies.
Israel claims the holocaust happened. I agree. Is that a statement in support of Israel?
It seems to me that from a practical and moral standpoint, there is every reason for critics of Israel to avoid aligning themselves with holocaust deniers, who have zero credibility. Gehrig seemed to be helping in that regard, at least if people were able to understand what he was doing and why. But if all they saw is "anyone who supports Israel is a racist," then they probably don't care too much about the nuances of who they align with. Unfortunately, it matters. |

It's interesting to note that we had posts overnight here (that have since been hidden) from DAN, the person who has hate-spammed UC IMC on numerous occassions and whose tactics mimic much of the truly disruptive posting that has also occurred on SF IMC. The timing is curious, particularly the last two, which happened nearly simultaneously to an attack this morning on SF IMCs Newswire.
The SF IMC was flooded with several dozen copies of the original post of gehrig's that led SF IMC to (none too persuasively) ban him. The thing is, I happen to know gehrig well enough to know that he would never engage in such childish nonsense. He likes to make his points by force of argument, not childish, disruptive behavior.
But I also happen to know that this is exactly the pattern, i.e., childish, disruptive behavior, of DAN's previous attacks here (before we converted to Dada from Active software) and exactly like many of the flooding attacks that continue to occur on SF IMC (which still uses Active, which remains susecptible to these sorts of attacks.)
A number of IMC editors beileve that DAN is behind these attacks. I personally think that DAN is actually either the same person as the infamous Wendy Campbell or a close associate of "hers". Thus, the attack on SF IMC was inspired by these facts:
1. That Wendy/DAN is pissed at gehrig, whose persistence appears to have gotten Wendy/DAN banned, along with gehrig himself. Wendy/DAN is likely very happy about gehrig being banned, but also furious that s/he has likewise been banned at SF IMC.
2. That this person (believed to actually be a rather well-known Sacramento "activist") thinks s/he is taking revenge on gehrig by engaging in a false flag attack on SF IMC misleadingly attributed to gehrig.
3. That nessie, who seems to be the primary editor there, is so obsessed with the idea that anything untoward like this that happens on SF IMC is part of some "Zionist plot" and will reflexively and mistakenly blame it on gehrig, instead of being perceptive enough to realize that his own prejudices have led him to an incorrect conclusion.
4. That if SF IMC, which is believed to track IP addresses, can check the IPs that this morning's attack originated from, it will most likely find DAN's trademark, the use of multiple anonymous proxy servers, behind this attack.
5. I've never known gehrig to be anything but open about his activities and, thus, would not be using such proxies and that any checks of his known past, legitimate postings on SF IMC will reveal that those easily identifiable IPs have nothing to do with the IPs that this morning's attack on SF IMC originated from.
In other words, hate makes you stupid, blind, and subject to manipulation, as seems to have occurred with the entire editorial process at SF IMC. I guess that's their problem to sort out, but it's all rather sad to see a group that claims to abide by Indymedia principles of unity sink so low in the name of ideological conformism. |

Thanks, futrelle and ML, for the kind words. Sorry I missed the RFU meeting last night -- I was too busy getting thrown out of SF-IMC by a comic-opera martinet. Don't expect to see me tonight either, although for other reasons. One of which is:
I've often told nessie that, if I am banned, I will make one last summary post on SF-IMC (which he will gutlessly hide on sight) and then stop posting there altogether, leaving with my head held high and prepared to defend every post I've made there.
Later tonight I'll make that post, and I'll repost it here with an invitation for SF-IMC readers to continue the conversation here.
In the meantime, Wendy Campbell, the Jew-hating wretch, has already posted twice today under assumed names; check http://sf.indymedia.org/news/2004/02/1675471_comment.php#1675697 to see what she thinks is an impenetrable disguise.
So the net gain for nessie is: Wendy's still there spreading her antisemitism as "anti-Zionism"
and discrediting the site, and I'm no longer going to be there to point it out. Such a deal.
