Monsanto corporation sprays glyphosate herbicide over the Putomayo rainforest in Columbia and contaminates Maize in Oaxaca with their patented Bt gene engineered corn. Stand together with millions of people who say "STOP MONSANTO!" |
Monsanto is responsible for the death of biodiversity in Columbia's Putomayo rainforest, including skin rashes on the indigenous people whose only crime was living under the spray cloud of the Columbian military planes that sprayed Monsanto's "Round-up" for so-called drug eradication program..
Monsanto is responsible for the spread of their patented Bt (Bacillus thuringensis toxin) corn that contaminated the maize in Oaxaca, Mexico. People in Oaxaca have raised maize for centuries and developed unique strains through natural seed selection. Maize is a part of their culture and spiritual beliefs, the plants are honored and respected. Now their maize is contaminated thanks to a careless US corporation..
Monsanto is responsible for concealing toxic waste PCBs dumped in Anniston Creek, Alabama. Documents with this information were labeled "Confidential-Read and Destroy" to escape any legal action. The levels of PCBs were 7,500 times legal PCB levels, resulting in cancer rates far above normal..
Agent Orange herbicide in Vietnam is another Monsanto product, causing many rashes and tumors in Vietnamese people and Vietnam Vets..
Monsanto's GE Bt cotton in India resulted in lower yields and put farmers out of business. Farmers who paid more for Monsanto's GE seeds and got a poor crop return became mired in debt. At least 100 farmers committed suicide after their lives were ruined by Monsanto's GE Bt cotton..
Monsanto's rBGH (Bovine Growth Hormone) is linked to premature breast development in adolescent girls. This is not showing healthy development, only a faster acceleration as the rGBH in beef/dairy effects children by causing accelerated hormonal growth. Youth is a valuable time and should not be speeded up in the name of profit..
For the above and other reasons, we demand Monsanto;
Stop intimidating small family farmers.
Stop force-feeding untested and unlabeled genetically engineered foods on consumers.
Stop using billions of dollars of U.S. taypayers' money to subsidize genetically engineered crops--cotton, soybeans, corn, and canola. |
