A local activist is curious as to others are receiving unsolicited pro-Bush, pro-war mail at their home addresses. |
A member of AWARE (Urbana Champaign’s Anti War, Anti Racism Effort) who also volunteers at the IMC (U-C’s Independent Media Center) has recently received an unmarked brown envelope in the mail. This envelope had no return address and no sender signature. It contained four pages of the positive aspects of President Bush’s war on Iraq.
The receiver of this mail does have their address listed in the telephone book under their spouces name, however the mail was not addressed to the telephone-listed spouce but rather hand addressed to the activist who has a different last name.
Here are some of the quotes from the document.
“How come we don't hear more about this from our
media????â€
“...Over 60,000 Iraqis now provide security to their fellow citizens.â€
“...Teachers earn from 12 to 25 times their former salaries.â€
“...Satellite TV dishes are legal.â€
“...The Coalition has helped administer over 22 million vaccination doses to Iraq's children.â€
...Foreign journalist (and everyone else) are free to come and go.
“...Saddam is gone.â€
“...Iraq is free.â€
“...President Bush has not faltered or failed.â€
“...Yes, little or none of this information has been published by the Press corps that prides itself on brings you all the news that's important.â€
This goes on for four pages, although at the top of the page it says page 4 of 5 so apparently the sender forgot to staple the fifth page. The date at the bottom of the paper curiously says 10/2/02, although it was postmarked from Bloomington IL on January 4, 2004 and received on January 13, 2004.
Please respond to this posting if you have received anything similar. |
