Jews of conscience work together to end the Israeli Occupation of Palestinian land. Web site helps to educate and coordinate activity. |
Last October, a single Jew wore a sign at a demonstration in Chicago, which had been called by the Arab community. The sign read, "I am Jewish and I want Israel to stop killing Palestinians." With this simple act, Not In My Name was born. Today, Not In My Name (NIMN) continues to be one of the most visible activist organizations in Chicago.
Comprising Jews and non-Jews (including Palestinians and other Arabs), it has captured the imagination of people of conscience all over the world. Its agenda includes weekly vigils and leafleting that are held each Friday at noon in front of the Tribune building in downtown Chicago. Educational events, which reach out to interested members of the community, are also common.
Their web site is a source of updated information and resources for action. NIMN also sponsors email discussion lists. Interested readers are invited to visit the site, become members, and, especially, start similar groups in their communities! |
