The latest Shortwave Report (December 12) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality (13.2MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (29:00) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org

This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, China Radio International, Spanish National Radio, the Voice of Russia, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From Netherlands- The European Union is currently maintaining its ban on GM foods, although 6 of the 15 countries are willing to drop it. The mother and husband of the Colombian Presidential candidate kidnapped by FARC rebels ended their occupation of a cathedral in Bogota. The UN General Assembly voted to ask the International Court of Justice to rule on the legality of the wall Israel is building in and around Palestine. Mr Bush has rejected N Koreas proposal to freeze its nuclear weapons program.
From China- N Korea wants to be removed from the US list of terrorist-sponsoring nations and have sanctions against it lifted. Japan’s cabinet has approved the dispatch of over 1000 soldiers to Iraq despite serious public and international opposition. Demonstrations against the deployment are ongoing in many major Japanese cities. Then a review of press reactions to the visit of the Chinese Premier’s visit to the US. A survey by the Chinese Youth Daily paper finds curious responses about happiness, money, education, and relationships.
From Spain- The UN has issued strong recommendations to Mexico regarding the human rights of women and the indigenous population. The Brazilian President pledged deeper cooperation with Arab nations and wants a summit between Latin American and Arab governments. The next Presidential race in Russia has begun in the wake of elections that were considered rigged by many. Then Press reviews on the Russian election and the deployment of Spanish troops in Iraq. An Iranian woman received the Nobel Peace Prize for her activism in Arab women’s and children’s rights, and she went on to critique the US administration for its human rights violations under the guise of a war on terrorism. Israel and Lebanon saw tensions flair and Sharon made gestures about moving some Jewish settlements.
From Russia- Yassar Arafat said Sharon’s gestures of removing some settlements were a “smokescreen.” Then a commentary about the new rule barring countries that opposed the invasion of Iraq from getting any reconstruction contracts.
From Cuba- A report from Iraq about the US murder of a Kurdish leader and the Health Ministry’s order to stop counting civilian deaths. Israeli lawmaker’s approved another $100 million for the construction of the controversial wall in and around Palestine. Former Nicaraguan President Allemande has been convicted of embezzeling a hundred million dollars, and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
