INFOSHOP.ORG TO PROVIDE EXPANDED NEWS COVERAGE OF FTAA PROTESTS

This week, tens of thousands of working people will descend on Miami, Florida, to protest a meeting of those developing the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA). This agreement would create one massive free trade zone across the Western Hemisphere. The FTAA has been described as "NAFTA on steroids," a reference to the existing free trade agreement covering North America. Efforts continue to create and implement these trade agreements over the objections of millions of working people.

This week Infoshop.org will provide special coverage of the trade protests through a special web page at: <http://www.infoshop.org/inews/ftaa_miami.html>. This special coverage will include links to news stories from the mainstream and independent press, photos, breaking news, and much more.

Infoshop.org has provided extensive coverage of previous trade summit protests, including the 1999 anti-WTO protests in Seattle. These past special features have turned into a comprehensive archive of the anti-globalization movement. Infoshop News is a popular Internet news service, getting around 7 million hits each month. Infoshop.org has been online since 1995 and serves as a resource library, news service, online community for activists, and much more.
