it's been known to happen when uploading from a mac. unless you've had success uploading image files from your mac to other sites, i'd suggest you do't have aconfiguration set correctly or that it's just a glitch with macs ... ? i have the problem too and haven't taken the time to investigate.
if you're uploading on pc, you got the file name nice and clean and all that? all one word, etc? maybe it's an optimization baseline etc issue?
