Don't forget the media conference before the talk! |
Please note that the Chomsky speech has been moved to Braden Auditorium, so there will be plenty of space and everyone is encouraged to attend Tuesday, October 7 at 7pm. Chomsky’s speech on “Dilemmas of Dominance” is part of the Robert G. Bone Distinguished Lecture Series, and sponsored by the Department of Politics and Government at ISU. The new issue of the Indy includes several stories on Chomsky.
"Propaganda Wars: Manufacturing Consent vs. Creating Dissent" a mini-conference on propaganda and the media, will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 3-7pm at ISU's Bone Student Center Circus Room, in Normal. A panel at 3pm on “Propaganda and War” includes John K. Wilson, co-founder of the Indy, Indy writer Anthony DiMaggio, and former WJBC host Keith Gottschalk; a panel at 4:30pm on “Creating Dissent” includes Hasta Cuando? co-founder Leticia Cortez and alternet.org writer Kari Lydersen. The mini-conference concludes with a speech at 6pm by UIUC professor Robert McChesney, author of Rich Media, Poor Democracy. The conference is free and open to the public. For more information, go to www.pabn.org or email indynews (at) hotmail.com.
Thanks,
John Wilson
