The U.S. House vote on the Harkin Amendment to block the Bush administration's changes in overtime pay is expected tomorrow (Wednesday, October 1). A similar measure was narrowly defeated earlier this year in the House, but is back because of its approval in the U.S. Senate. Rep.
Tim Johnson (R-IL, 15th district) has already voted once in support of labor's position, but now that the Senate has revived the issue, the pressure on Johnson from Republicans and conservatives will be even greater.
Tim needs to hear from us TODAY. There will no doubt be lots of messages from national lobbyists on both sides, but Tim is particularly responsive to feedback from local residents back home in his own district. Here is the contact info:
