After almost two months of discussion about a state wide site to support Illinois efforts in electing Dennis Kucinich for the Democratic Nomination for President, www.il4kucinich.org is ready to be launched. With support for Kucinich coming from people who previously have not have worked together, this site is a grassroots effort to keep everyone informed about what is going on in Illinois while also maintaining the ability to keep this site as open and uncensored as possible so that it can be used to recognize differences and try to work together more in an open environment. |
Currently, this site offers an open publishing calendar for events taking place in Illinois that deserve the support of other Illinois Kucitizens. This site uses a meetup-style technology which allows others to sign up for a posted event and will keep track of how many people have signed up for each event. There are no costs required for using this site. To post an event, you must simply verify your e-mail address with us so that if there are further questions from other Kucinich supporters regarding a specific event, there will be an appropriate email address to answer them. Email verification will hopefully also maintain user integrity and make it easier for local Kucinich chapters to form and communicate with each other based not only on region but by issue. Once this site is in use, we may make changes based on the needs and desire of our users. All events are categorized by city and the front page will contain high profile information that is worthwhile to all Illinois supporters. The Illinois Kucinich web committee is hoping that user feedback will provide us with a stronger and more focused direction for the site’s development.
We are hoping to create an open publishing system for news and commentary that allows different regions and committees to post information that will appear in separate areas of the site so that local information can be posted without interfering with another region. Each region will be able to moderate its own part of the site and all submitted data that is not approved will be lumped together in a separate region. This new development should be ready within the next 2 to 3 weeks. In the meantime, please visit this site and submit any events that are noteworthy to this site and check back for updates of events in your area. There is a tech listserv which has been used to discuss the development of this site at http://techatwork.org/mailman/listinfo/kucinich_techatwork.org/. If you have information that you would like to see posted on the sidebar or as front page news, please send your information to webmaster (at) il4kucinich.org for approval until this site has open publishing capabilities avalable. There is also a commercial free listserv available for discussion at unmoderated (at) il4kucinich.org. Other moderated list serves can be created to replace the Yahoo Groups lists that are currently in place. Once the regional open publishing system is established, official committees will be able to moderate their content separately from unofficial content within the same il4kucinich.org framework.
Clearly, this site does not yet represent Kucinich supporters from the entire state of Illinois. This site’s design and presentation is not perfect. Decisions on which approach to take for this site have not been decided on unanimously either. That is why we need your help. The more discussion of how this site can be developed the better this site will be for all supporters of Dennis Kucinich as well as people who want to debate local issues that deserve national interest in an open, commercial free environment
Thank you,
Nick Berveiler

Dear Nick,
I lived in Cleveland when the "boy mayor" Kucinich bankrupted the city, the schools were on strike, (which was fine because they did not have the money to heat them anyway. Is he going to do as President, what he did as Mayor? Just Curious.

Kucinich or anyone else couldn't do a worse job than the current occupant of the White House when it comes to bankrupting this country. Bush 43 presides over the greatest budget deficit in history, exceeding even his father's previous record, which was hard to beat. He handed billions back to his campaign contributors in the form of tax cuts, while running up the national Visa card with a war that he can hardly get any international assistance for. And now he wants to keep our troops there at an expense of AT LEAST $87 billion a year that is not in the budget either.
And this kind of deficit spending is a priority, while millions lack healthcare, our schools and highways are falling apart, and Amtrak can't even run trains on time, let alone expand the system so that we need to rely less on the thirst for oil that is behind the war in Iraq. Add in the 3 million jobs lost in the last three years and we have a mess of unprecedented proportions.
Is that what Bush 41 once called "voodoo economics"? No, that was Reagan's trickle-down, but dry up before it gets to the bottom, economics. This must be BULLSHIT economics instead. I recommend that Jack try the same thing with his household budget, then wait and see how long it takes the sheriff to show up to put him out in the street.

anon,
You must have your account here at UC IMC set to a threshold of -1 or higher. "Jack Ryan"'s post is currently rated -2. You probably don't see it because you need to adjust your threshold. It is still visible and has not been hidden.

Dear ML and Anon,
I have been trying to get Anon to open his eyes since I found your little web-site. Alas I have been unsuccessful. I have changed my mind. I think you guys should put all your time and resources behind Mr. Kucinich. Let him run on his record. As a native of the Cleveland area, I am sure that his policies and his "Soak the Rich for a Free Ride" campaign will play as well as George McGovern's played. Good Luck and I look forward to refering to Mr. Kucinich as your Nominee. Hell, I have some great ideas for the TV commercials that I would run as a Bush supporter. These would not be negative adds, I would simply put the man's record and his slim victory in his recall election. Go Dennis!!!!
Your Friend,
Jack
