The Champaign County Based Coalition for Traditional Values has chosen it's second annual award winner of the "CTV Family Values Award 2001" for community service in the best interest of area families. On July 3rd, the
group will present it's award to Rich Porter, the founder of a grass roots group designed to stop the potential Indian casino and landgrab lawsuit targeting landowners in the state. Porter was chosen for his hard work to stop the unfair attempts to use Indian law to get land and ultimately a casino in this area.
"Rich has put a tremendous amount of effort into stopping an attempt by a big money developer who wants a casino here. He recognized the problem immediately, and went to work on behalf of keeping our community free from
the entaglements that can come with Indian casinos, and additional gambling in general," said Jim McGuire, President of CTV. "Families have enough pressure on them already, and they don't need the tremendous social burdens that a casino brings," continued McGuire.
Porter worked to help educate area lawmakers on the problems, and received the early support of State Representative Rick Winkel among others. State Senator Judy Meyer and newly elected Congressman Tim Johnson
also deserve attention for the work they've done on the issue. Federal Senator Peter Fitzgerald has been working to fight the landgrab as well. In Springfield, Illinois Church Action, and it's director Anita Bedell provided early support and information that proved very important in the understanding of the political connections involved in the claim.
The award will be presented during a news conference at 8:30A.M. in the City Council Chambers at the Champaign City Building.

Traditional American Values: Stealing Indian Land, Keeping It Stolen and Repressing Homosexuals. Pray for us.
March, 2000
Welcome to CTV's new look for the new Millenium.
I am excited about the future of the Coalition for Traditional Values. The new website will provide a whole new way of communicating with you, our CTV friends. While the Family Bulletin and Voter Guide will continue to be published, the website will allow CTV to become more effective on a day-to-day basis.
Not only will e-mail capabilities allow me to interact with you, but it will be possible to contact you personally on specific issues of interest to you. Be sure to visit our Volunteer page and fill out your e-mail address.
Links are provided to many pro-family websites and balanced news media outlets. I encourage you to take advantage of these websites. It is important to stay educated on current events and you will enjoy reading articles by some of our nation's most respected family-oriented authors.
Your participation in the defeat of HB474 (adding homosexuality to the human rights law) was critical. CTV's Legislative Alert will provide access to the latest, most up-to-date information on bills, both federal and state. You will be able to contact your officials directly from the website and let them know where you stand. When time is important - CTV will be there.
Our News page will feature stories and information which you will not get from the mainstream media. Check it out frequently.
Above all, please pray. Pray for our nation and its leaders, for the CTV board, as well as, for myself and our families. Prayer is the foundation for action. Without prayer, action is empty.
I look forward to hearing from you. Let me know what you think of the website and, if I can be of service, in any way, don't hesitate to ask.
May God Bless You,
Jim McGuire

When we steal your land, it should stay stolen.
BTW, next time the World Church of The Creator needs a place to hold a press conference, it looks like all they have to do is ask the City of Champaign if they can use the city council chambers. It would seem that they would fit right in with a policy that allows CTV to use the chambers to gain the prestige of using such a venue for their propaganda campaign of white supremacy. |
