Show solidarity against World Bank/IMF meetings in Singapore - Sept. 14 - 20, 2006 |

Mobilization for Global Justice (MGJ) has endorsed the following call, at http://www.jubileesouth.org/news/EEVpllFFFFAtYxlIPx.shtml, written and distributed by Jubilee South, a coalition of social movements throughout the Global South who are resisting illegitimate debts and IMF/World Bank policies. The statement calls on people worldwide to take action in their own communities against the IMF/World Bank the week of September 14-20, while the institutions meet in Singapore.
In the spirit of the call, MGJ is calling for all peoples to engage in their own actions to contribute to the resistance and solidarity of peoples everywhere against the international financial institutions.
We encourage people to organize and act in their own communities first and foremost. If you need names of corporations in your area who benefit from IMF/World Bank policies and would be appropriate targets for protest, please let us know, and we will help you find their names and locations. And please let us know about your plans! We will compile a list of local actions and organizing contacts, to help better nationwide coordination in our movement in the future.
Realizing that not all people can protest locally, we encourage people who are not acting locally to go to where they feel they would be most valuable in furthering the goals of our movement. (For example, you could go to the local action that is closest to you.) Should that be DC, we would be honored to accept your contribution to the actions that we in MGJ are planning. We will provide a space to coordinate effective decentralized direct actions in Washington, DC, through a spokescouncil.
As such, MGJ will be organizing and acting in September, but we are not organizing mass housing nor are we requesting a large presence of people from outside of the region. We are planning creative direct actions, but not a mass mobilization.
Looking forward to the April 2007 International Monetary Fund and World
Bank meetings, MGJ calls for people to think about and organize resistance to the April 2007 meetings here in DC; we will be holding meetings in the future and welcome the participation of all who share our goals of a more just world, free of the bondage of the International Financial Institutions.

LLAMADO A ACCIONES GLOBALES CONTRA LAS INSTITUCIONES FINANCIERAS
INTERNACIONALES
14 AL 20 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 2006
La Movilizaci贸n para la Justicia Global (MGJ) da su total apoyo a la siguiente llamado de acci贸n, escrito y distribuido por Jubileo Sur, una coalici贸n de movimientos sociales en todo el Sur Global quien est谩 hacienda resistencia contra las deudas ilig铆timas y a las pol铆ticas del Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI) y el Banco Mundial (BM). Esta petici贸n pide a la gente por todo el mundo a tomar acci贸n en sus propias comunidades en contra el FMI y Banco Mundial la semana del 14 al 20 de Septiembre.
En el esp铆ritu de este llamado, MGJ pide que todo el mundo haga sus propias acciones para contribuir a la resistencia y solidaridad con personas en todos lados contra las instituciones financieras internacionales.
Animamos al publico concientizado que haga acciones en sus propios
localidades. Si necesitan nombres de empresas en su localidad que se benefician de las pol铆ticas del BM o FMI, y ser铆an buenos sitios para una protesta, por favor av铆sennos y les ayudaremos a conseguir estos nombres y direcciones. 隆M谩s que todo, av铆sennos sobre sus planes! Nosotros queremos hacer una lista de todas las acciones y contactos locales de los organizadores para mejorar la coordinacion por todo el pa铆s en el futuro.
Nos damos cuenta que no toda la gente pueden hacer protestas en sus sitios locales. Si no puede protestar en su propia comunidad, sugerimos que Ud. vaya a una ciudad donde puede unirse a las metas del movimiento (Por ejemplo, puede ir a la ciudad m谩s cercana donde est谩n haciendo una actividad). Si este local fuera Washington, D.C., estar铆amos honrados de aceptar su participaci贸n en las actividades que est谩 planificando por MGJ. Proveeremos un espacio para coordinar acciones efectivas y decentralizadas en Washington, D.C. por el cabildo de coordinaci贸n.
De tal manera, MGJ est谩 organizando y tomando acci贸n en septiembre, pero no estamos organizando alojamiento o promoviendo una gran presencia de personas afuera de esta regi贸n. Estamos planificando acciones creativas y directas, pero peque帽os.
En el largo plazo, en camino a las reuniones del BM y FMI en abril 2007, MGJ hace un llamado a tod at s a formular formas creativas de resistencia que desarollaremos durantes las reuniones en Washington, D.C. Convocaremos reuniones de planificaci贸n en el futuro y damos la bienvenida a todos que quieran participar y que comparten nuestra visi贸n para un mundo m谩s justo y libre de la esclavitud de las instituciones financieras internacionales.
