Leonard Peltier came close to receiving clemency from former President Clinton for justifiable reasons. Yet, while the big money/good buddy crowd that surrounded Clinton raked in the pardons for their "contributions" to his presidency, amid much outcry and continuing investigation, Peltier was left in prison at the end of Clinton's term. |
This article by the Colorado Daily examines the process and politics of the clemency petition for Leonard Peltier for his conviction of murdering two FBI agents in a much-disputed shoot-out at Pine Ridge reservation in 1975. What is particularly insidious is the role of the FBI in denying fair consideration of Peltier's appeal to Clinton and the possible quid pro quo that appears to have been made by the Clinton to avoid further prosecution for his corrupt practices in office. |
