Informational Picket Number Two
12 Noon, Thursday, June 15
UIUC Main Quad, just south of the Union
LOUD & PROUD! RAIN OR SHINE |
Your hard-workin' neighbors at AFSCME 698 invite YOU, yes YOU, to join us as we demand a fair contract for our bargaining unit. We're hitting the quad to shout out for GOOD JOBS in the twin towns and the State of Illinois, and we need some ROCK-SOLID SOLIDARITY from community members!
Join our second informational picket this THURSDAY JUNE 15TH at 12 NOON
On the U of I main quad, just South of the Illini Union
We'll be there to DEMAND A FAIR CONTRACT!
The UI has offered us a 2% raise the first year with no back pay. Year two and three will put us at 1.5% LESS than the rate the UI gives to other employees in those years!
The UI says that is their best and last offer! We say it's an insult and a definite KICK IN THE TEETH for our standard of living.
Our local intends to STAND UNITED FOR A FAIR CONTRACT! Our chances are so much better if the whole community STANDS WITH US.
AFSCME stands for the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees. It's a union which represents workers from many different walks of life as they negotiate fair wages and working conditions from public institutions like the University of Illinois. Our local, No. 698, represents about 400 civil service and paraprofessional workers in lots of different jobs across the U of I campus.
Please come picket with us.
In Solidarity,
Paul Kotheimer
