Guantanamo Bay Conditions Exposed In Champaign County Jail.
Guantanamo Bay is again in the news with 3 suicides committed by “detainees.”
In 2004, IMC reporters spotlighted 3 suicides in the Champaign County jail.
After the death of Quentin Larry over Memorial Day weekend 2006, conditions in the Champaign County Jail appear to parallel the inhumane treatment found in U.S. occupied Cuba.
The recent death of Quentin Larry, in addition to another death in 2005, makes 5 deaths in 3 years at the local jail.
Sheriff Dan Walsh and State's Attorney Julia Rietz boast of the improvements they have made in the jail (News-Gazette 5/30/2006).
Community Court Watch demands an independent investigation into the 5 deaths at the local jail and an explanation from authorities.
