Atrocities on POW? Current rating: 0
25 May 2006
Today every person, who is harmful for American interests, is a terrorist, in the eyes of America. And if the same person is active in terror activities in Russia, China, Japan, Germany or India or like that in other countries, he isn’t a terrorist for the Bush administration. There seems to be no need of keeping such persons in prisons run under the control of American army. At last is not it an effort of America to become a worldwide jailer under the cover of self declared ‘War against Terrorism’?

Atrocities on POW?
It is not wrong to call war as synonym of ruin & destruction. The two countries that indulge in war have to bear a huge amount of expenditure at military level. In spite of loss of life & property, there is bad after effect of radiation which is beyond imagination. Intensity of loss by radiation, sometimes, it is beyond description. Even after the six decades of American atomic attack on Hiroshima & Nagasaki cities of Japan, the worst effects of radiation can be seen on the new born babies there. On seeing them, a feeling touches our mind that if anything that is horrible & worst of all the things in the world is, that is the war. The recent results of destruction of war in Afghanistan & Iraq are before us.
Not only the citizens of the country concerned but the soldiers taking part in the war also have to face the evil after effects of the war. Although, a human rights organization, Amnesty International, under the United Nations Organization, has done a lot of paper work for the rights of prisoners of war yet, in spite of it still, atrocities on prisoners of war are going on. It is a matter of sorrow that the world powers that seem favouring the human rights are being accused of breaching the human rights. But after the terrorist attack on America on September 11, since then America, with its allies has started a so said war against terrorism. Perhaps since then America has become the main accused in the world to breach the human rights. It is not so that Anti Bush people or those who criticize the policies of America are telling America the guilty of breach of human rights only to discredit it or their accusation is pre-determined. American deputy defence minister Charles Stimson himself has accepted that 120 captives in Iraq & Afghanistan in captivity of American soldiers have died. Out of them the 29 deaths of the captives were of those who were doubted to die because of the torture in the captivity by the American soldiers. In the last November, human rights observers from the United Nations Organization were given conditional permission to visit torture camp in Guvantanamo in Cuba. Human Rights observers had been willing to see the prisoners in this prison for four years but America wasn’t giving them permission. After continued efforts for four years, American administration allowed them to enter the prison only for one day & that too on the condition that they wouldn’t talk to any prisoner individually. Under such circumstances, today human rights workers & organizations in the world can be seen clearly accusing America for torture of prisoners in captivity. It isn’t mere a chance. It is not the work of only American soldiers deployed on security in prison but there is a possibility that it is all being done that too in the knowledge of Bush administration & it is a pre-planned conspiracy. It is said that Bush administration is freely allowing torturing the prisoners.
Human Rights Organizations have been continually accusing America of torturing the prisoners & of breach of treaty of United Nations Organization. These organizations accused that America not only in the prison of Iraq & Cuba but in its many temporary prisons in the world, have been torturing its prisoners & alleged extremists of many countries. According to Amnesty International, an active organization for the defence of human rights in the world, that allies under the leadership of America have so far captivated more than 14000 people in Iraq, only on the basis of doubt. Is a result of it, day by day Iraq people are gathering voices against American army. This is the reason that in spite of much effort & instead of improving the conditions in Iraq are becoming from bad to worse.
Regarding the ill behaviour towards the prisoners in the worldwide prisons run under the control of American soldiers, some days ago, American defence secretary Condoleezza Rice replied the pained writers, press reporters & workers & organizations of human rights & social organizations, for their criticism in very harsh words. She said that although America is thinking of closing the prison in Guvantanamo yet she refused to tell about its time limits. Rice also questioned that how these hundred of dangerous prisoners of war should be dealt with, that were caught in the battlefield & till now they are repeating that if released, they would kill the Americans. Rice asked the critics of America if they wanted that such people be seen roaming on the roads. Talking about the righteousness of the prison of Guvantanamo Bay Rice said that it was a compulsion to start a prison at the time of war against terrorism. In a recent statement Rice said that America didn’t want to be a self styled jailor of the world.
Rice’s statement clarifies that she may be openly saying about the war against terrorism but she is more worried about the safety of the Americans. If rice is accepted, there are some prisoners who after being released, want to kill the Americans, such people should be recognized & separated & under special provisions, they may be kept in prison for longer time or may be released conditionally under satisfactory surety. Not only this, such people after being released may be kept under observation by local & American Intelligence. But any powerful country can’t get the right to torture any alleged prisoner in inhuman way. But in reality, America is doing all that under the cover of war against terrorism for which it is being accused. Undoubtedly, America is giving up all the basic principles for human rights, in the name of war against terrorism.
Although Condoleezza Rice is denying the allegation on America of being the self styled jailer but in the world, role of America has became only a self styled jailer. America that in the past, used to speak loudly in favour of human rights has become the greatest centre of criticism in the world only because of this jailerism.
