The Graduate Employees’ Organization (GEO) and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), both campaigning to get better healthcare from the University of Illinois, will hold a rally in celebration of International Workers’ Day.
The GEO, IATSE, and several other unions on campus want to tell the U of I that all of its employees deserve quality healthcare.
“We work long and hard to make this university run,” said Brian Dolber, communications officer of the GEO. “We expect to be able to take care of ourselves and our families in return.”
The GEO represents teaching assistants and graduate assistants, while IATSE represents stagehands on campus. They are supported by the new Jobs with Justice Coalition, and other campus unions.
