UCIMC kommisar ML, in full damage control mode and trying to explain the significant drop-off in "terrorist chatter" on this website, says "There are lots of other activities going on in town, but I'll let others take care of posting about those". (see http://www.ucimc.org/newswire/display/11352/index.php) Of course, he also notes that I omitted the half-dozen burnouts hanging signs off of the I-74 bridge - zing! Got me there.
But then, after suppsedly "leaving this to others", der kommisar runs off and asks his fellow propagandists, "Please post comments noting events and activities that disprove bfd's statement. If we get enough comments, I'll move the whole thing up to the Local Newswire, since it will have enough local content then to qualify."
(see http://lists.cu.groogroo.com/mailman/archive/imc-web/2003-April/000258.html)
These are tactics befitting the Iraqi information minister. Maybe he took the Greyhound from Damascus to Urbana and got a job here.
I'm sure there are other "active cells" in the neighborhood and will get the comments you're looking for, all the while ignoring the fact that even a sizeable portion of French (!) citizens have changed their minds about the war in Iraq.
