WRFU-LP is now broadcasting live programming in Spanish from Radio Bilngüe each weekday from 2 to 4 pm on 104.5 FM. |
I am pleased to announce that there has been a major new addition to the Spanish-language media in our community.
WRFU-LP is now broadcasting live programming in Spanish from Radio Bilngüe each weekday from 2 to 4 pm on 104.5 FM. Although a low-power station of only 100 watts, it should be receivable in all of C-U, except perhaps on the far west side of Champaign (which we hope to remedy soon by adjusting the antenna on top of the former Post Office building in downtown Urbana).
Radio Bilngüe is the country's only national public radio system broadcasting in Spanish. The two hours per weekday of Spanish programming are as follows:
2:00 pm Noticiero Latino (news from correspondents across the U.S. and Mexico)
2:05 pm LÃnea Abierta (live call-in program on Latino issues: 1-800-345-4632)
3:00 pm Noticero Latino
3:05 pm International News in Spanish from Radio Netherlands
3:30 pm Pulso de la Tarde (new from Radio Educación, México, D. F.)
These programs should be of interest to Latinos in our community, those interested in Latino issues, and students of Spanish. The same programs are also broadcast simultaneously by the Latino Radio Service on 1660 AM. The latter provides Spanish (and some Portuguese) 24/7 on and near the UIUC campus.
Other radio programs on WRFU with a Latino flavor are:
Radio Triple 'R' : Mondays 7 to 8 pm
Puerto Rican Music Hour: Fridays 9 to 10 pm
