Charlie and Karen are favorites at the IMC. In a tradition that goes back to Woody Guthrie (and earlier), they sing union songs, anti-war songs, feminist songs, immigrant songs. They sing organizing songs and protest songs. They sing songs to set us free. If you want to stop war and stuff you've got to sing loud and that's what Charlie King has been doing for 35 years. His songs have been recorded by Pete Seeger, Holly Near, Ronnie Gilbert, Arlo Guthrie, and others.
Kevin Elliott hosts From the Joshua Tree Inn (featuring folk, bluegrass, alt.country, blues, and everything in between) on WEFT 90.1 FM every Tuesday night at 8pm. He also writes and sings folk songs and has recently teamed up with a fiddle player who will be joining him for tonight's (Sunday's) show.
