When is a war not a war? |
When is a war not a war?
When it is a "campaign."
That is how WILL AM580 is describing their coverage of the war on Iraq.
"...Our coverage of the campaign against Iraq..."
I don't know why they just don't call it a war.
For war, an aggressive war at that, is surely what is is.
It's not like people are going to vote for this, Americans or Iraqis (election campaign?). It's not like they are going to recall Saddam (recall campaign?). It's not like they are going to stamp out terrorism (an anti-terror campaign???) as they will simply percipitate more terrorism (but that's good for business if you're a defense contractor or Bush campaign contributor...dang, that pesky, mis-used noun AGAIN!).
Calling it a "campaign" implies it is something more acceptable, justified, or moral than war.
It is not.
Why doesn't WILL simply call it their "coverage on the WAR against Iraq"? That is what it is.
A _WAR_.
Trying to use flowery language in a situation like this is an atrocity against the English langauge. I hate to even think about worse tax-payer financed atrocities going on as I write. |

There was a surreal moment on WILL earlier this morning where they switched from talking about the "campaign" in Iraq to talking about their "smile healthy campaign" to educate people about dental health.
I sure hope they're not proposing to bomb our teeth. |

Sorry about that:
ML and Joe,
Two of my favorite targets. Let's see Skewed Terminology: Let me give you a few. You will see that your side invented it.
1. Reproductive Health Services
Translation: Murder of innocent infant performed here!!!
2. Minimum Tax Credit
Translation: A check from the government for people who do not pay taxes.
3. Welfare
Translation: Keeping people just above the poverty line
4. Afirmitive Action:
Translation: Lots of unqualified minorities getting jobs and college slots over qualified applicants. This does not include Asians.
5. Diversity
Translation: An entire auditorium filled with people of all colors who are as left as can be.
I could go on, but I agree with you, this is not a war yet, it is a brilliantly executed military liberation of Iraq. Iran and Syria, your next.

Ohhh don't get me started...
If I hear Coalition forces one more time, I'm going to... write NPR a letter. Since when is an army made up of 99% US a few Brits and buch of second-world countries desprate to suck-up to the US constitute a coalition!
Then there's weapons of mass distruction. As if our 21,000 pound MOEB (sp?) bomb is less distructive than an envelope of antrax? As if shock and awe bombing is not a tactic of mass distruction! What, dropping 10 time the bombs than the gulf war is "disarmament", there's another one, but the hint that there might be a few stray gas shells in Iraq gave danger as bad as Hitler?
Ok I gotta stop, se you all at the AWARE vigil. |

Hey RDR,
You were a complete "Nancy" prior to the war and you are now. You see confrontation right in front of you and you run. You are, man or woman, a coward. I expect this from Joe and ML but you are a complete puss. I guess you have been told this before.
Have we dropped a MOAB yet, except for show? We are doing our best to destroy their will to fight. As of this moment 20% of their most loyal troops have defected or surrendered. You and your protesters give nothing but aid and comfort to our enemies. Stop this right now and be man or woman enough to admit that you have been wrong all along. It will not be the first time. It is not too late to get on the winning team.
If we were as bad and as evil as you guys said, would we not be dropping thousands upon thousands of 500 lb bombs upon the only people you care about? WAKE UP AND LOOK AT THE FACTS.
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND THOSE WHO PROTECT US.
