American Roots Music/Alt.Country

For 10 years, Trailer Bride (Bloodshot Records) have crafted country noir (alt-country) from their homebase near Chapel Hill, NC. They return to Champaign-Urbana once again, after several past visits. I remember when Trailer Bride's album Smelling Salt came out while I was a morning menu airshifter at WEFT. People were constantly requesting
songs from that album, almost every week. Trailer Bride is my favorite all time roots music band. Electric, gritty, high, lonesome, footstomping, bring-a-smile-to-your-face, romping good time music.

Rex Hobart & His Misery Boys (Bloodshot Records) from Kansas City serve up some old-school honky tonk that goes down easy and drives the blues away. Tractor Kings, local favorites on Mud Records, open up the evening with reverb-soaked alt-country meets Bob Dylan.
