Genderzine, Areil , Women's Self-Defense-Stories of Strategies and Survival , Chicago, IL,
A wonderfully empowering zine for anyone who has ever been sexually assaulted in any way. Deals with lots of emotional stories and topics, but can extremely helpful in dealing with difficult things

Musiczine, Russ Forester, 8-Track Mind-8-T Gets real, Makes some serious cash 98, Chicago, IL, 1999
Lots of pieces and thoughts about the "value" of 8-track tapes, both dollar-wise and enjoyment-wise. Reviews, an interview, and some snail mails printed up

Musiczine, Russ Forester, 8-Track Mind-interviews with a few 8-track heroes 99, Detroit, MI, 1999
This issue has a couple of fairly in depth interviews with some 8-track people, including one of the main designers of the original 8-track tapes. Also some reviews, and other articles and such about the wonder of 8-track tapes.

perzine, Michael Bernard Loggins, Fears of Your Life , San Francisco, CA, 2001
Fear of Planes, Fear of Insects, Fear of a blasted music when you're not aware that the volume is up. Just 3 of the 138 fears listed in this 28 page (legal half-size) zine. It was written by Michael Bernard Loggins, and was released through Creativity Explored, "a nonprofit visual arts center for people with developmental disabilities". Amazingly interesting to read through these fears, some completely obvious, and some I never realized I was afraid of until I read this.

Perzine, Slappy Ass, White Devil, Insomniac Snuffleupagus, Jeff Faerber, Tri-State Crimespree 1, Chicago, IL, 2002
A collaboration by 3 different authors in 3 different states (Illinois, Oregon, and Montana). 44 pages (half size) of stories and copy art. Conversations with cab drivers, tips and stories about acquiring alcohol while you're still underage, and other random stories.

Musiczine, Liam Idiot, War Against the Idiots 24, Evanston, IL,
interviews with creative types in Chicago. Includes a cd of music by some of the people interviewed. From his introduction--"I am trying to reclaim the act of documentation, to record a living process rather than producing artifacts. These are the clumsy gestures of amateur artists and young criminals, and I can't think of a more workthy subject.

Perzine, Al Burian, Burn Collector 12, Chicago, IL,
Burn Collector has been one of the most consistently well written zines in Chicago for some time. Page after page of thoughts about living in what is some times the cold, cold city of Chicago.

Perzine, JoeyAlone, Loitering Is Good- post modern reflections in turd town 8, Chicago, IL,
thoughts on city life in chicago

Lots of stories split up into story/chapter type computer layout and format, allowing you to read it like a book

Perzine, Matt Fagan, Meniscus- An entertainment that sims upstream in circles 9, Chicago, IL, Mar-02
Great prose complimented by a few drawings. Stories about Ted Raimi's pants, dental problems, a description of what "Matt Fagan, The Movie" would be like, and more.

Perzine, Kat Raz, Retail Whore- the car issue 8, Chicago, IL,
In the forward, Kat basically apologizes to "the DIY punk kids" for driving, then quickly proves her understanding of why biking is rad, and cars are not. But she loves her car, and thusly has devoted an issue of her zine to it. Love stories, accident stories, drug stories

Perzine, Kat Raz, Retail Whore- the mix tape issue 6, Chicago, IL, 1/21/02
centers all it's stories around the concept of mix tapes; crushes she's made tapes for, places she's been while listening to mixes, song listings so you can replicate her marvelous creations?

Perzine, Jessica Disobedience, Safety pin Girl 17, Racine, WI,
Lovely cover drawn by Christie Road, and more lovely words by Jessica Disobedience. Topics like road trips, anarchy, and crushes. Also has an interview with The Distillers, her personal sexual manifesto, and sample flyers for cut n' wheat-pasting.

Perzine, Kathy Moseley, SemiBold 7, Chicago, IL, 2000
The Lucky Seventh issue includes "New Year's in New York", a four page comic, and a farewell article to an old Chicago club called "Lounge Ax".

Perzine, Kathy Moseley, SemiBold 6, Chicago, IL, 1999
Defined style, well produced, and clean layouts. Personal stories about doctors, a sort of journal about her trip to New York, and some summer concert reviews

Perzine, Kathy Moseley, SemiBold 8, Chicago, IL, 2002
A tribute to New York City

Reviewzine, Brent Ritzel, Zine Guide 6, Chicago, IL, Fall/Winter
more reviews than you can shake a stick at and indexes to help you find zines by person, band, or subject. Articles by Brent Ritzel (Zine Guide, Tailspins), Christoph Meyer (28 pages Lovingly Bound With Twine), and Katherine Raz (Retail Whore). This issue also has a good listing of various zine distros from all over the world, which is really helpful.
