The Urbana-Champaign IMC will hold it's semi-annual General Membership Meeting on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7:00 PM. The meeting happens at the IMC, 218 W. Main St., Downtown Urbana. There are several important decisions that must be made and the input of our community is necessary to keep the IMC a viable and vibrant organization. The agenda and information packet for this meeting are in the body of this post. Everyone is invited and welcome at this meeting, whether you've been a long-time volunteer, or you've just found out about the IMC.
Among the items to be discussed is the possibility of buying the building the IMC currently occupies, which would also require running a capital campaign. The IMC membership is the IMC. Although some people are able to volunteer more time than others, everyone is equally important when it comes to deciding the direction for Indymedia in Urbana-Champaign. From the beginning, our IMC was founded on this idea of equality -- no single group, managers or representatives are in charge. The membership meeting is the time twice a year when we make a special effort to gather together the IMC community and make good on this promise of real democracy in media. This promise is best fulfilled with your participation. We also want make sure you know what has been happening at the IMC. The success of the IMC depends on the time and work volunteered by our community. If you've ever considered giving some time to the IMC, now is a great time to start.
