Update on RNC Civil Cases--If you were arrested in NY, please read! |
I just talked to NLG, which is going ahead with a civil case against the New York Police. I recommend everyone who was arrested during the RNC:
1) visit http://www.nlgnyc.org/rnc/rnc.html and read the "Memo to RNC Arrestees: Civil Lawsuit Options"
2) and call the NYNLG at 212-679-6018 to make sure they have a record of your case and your correct contact information. They set up a list for arrestees last week, and if you haven't gotten email yet, their info is probably wrong.
Basically, you don't need to do anything to join the civil class action. But if you want to have an individual lawsuit (in case the class action isn't accepted) or if you think you could make an exemplary case for the NLG, contact them. The memo includes names and phone numbers for lawyers to advise you. |
