The Channing-Murray April Social Justice Forum will be a Panel Discussion entitled "Why is it Time to Change Our Drug Laws? How UIUC and C-U Drug Policies Affect ALL of Us."

Tuesday, April 25, 7:00 p.m. at the Channing-Murray Foundation, 1209 W. Oregon, Urbana

It is free and open to the public
This panel discussion will cover racial disparities in sentencing for drug offenses, prison overcrowding & alternatives to incarceration, needle exchange & opiate maintenance, new treatment modalities, local & University policies regarding drugs & alcohol, and other related topics.

Panel members & topics:Shaleen Aghi, "The War on Drugs: Caught in the Crossfire" Shaleen is an Illinois NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) Board Member, Co-Founder of Coalition for Social Change, and UIUC Law Student.

Andrea Brandon, "The Practice and Potential of Harm Reduction in Champaign, Illinois" Andrea is an MD/PhD Candidate at UIUC; National Secretary for Students for Sensible Drug Policy, and Co-Founder of the Coalition for Social Change.

Tom Betz, "Your Health, Your Rights, and Your University: Alcohol & Drug Policy at the University of Illinois"Tom is the Directing Attorney for Student Legal Services at the University of Illinois.
