"Shock And Awe" Is A Trademarked Military Tactic Current rating: 0
30 Mar 2003
This is an indymedia expose just waiting for an investigative journalist to take it on!!
Remember the front pages of the newspapers last Friday? They touted that the tactic the U. S. military was using over Baghdad was one of "Shock and Awe."

It turns out that this three-word phrase is not just your average piece of Pentagon propaganda. It's a TRADEMARKED "warfighting strategy" developed and marketed by a private firm called Defense Group, Incorporated (DGI).

Guess who's on the Board of Directors of DGI? Richard P. Godwin, former Vice Chairman and President of Bechtel Incorporated.

Seems like if you're looking for the answer to the question "Cui Bono?"--i.e., "Who Profits?"--when it comes to Gulf War Two, Defense Group, Incorporated, might be a place to look.

Here's how DGI describes itself at http://www.defensegroupinc.com/about.cfm:

For some background, see Washington Post's Jefferson Morley's article on the authors of the "Shock and Awe" textbook:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A55823-2003Mar19.html

A copy of the textbook itself is available on microfiche at the UIUC's Government Documents Library, under the call number MFICHEDOC.D5.402:SH7

I can't help but ask -- does it have a jingle?

Paul,

Shock and Awe is not new, I used the same strategy on my wedding night.

Where the hell are you guys. I offered to meet you and you could not face it. I know ML is one of the naked broads on the protest so I do not blame her. Anon, you are a male, who called me out. I asked you to name a meeting place and nothing but silence. Did you volunteer to assist Saddam more than you already are? Come On Dude,

I'm Waiting,

Jack

Results from a recent Poll in the Ryan Sentinal:

How many of you believe that Anon is a complete Sissy Mary?

For: 77 %
Against: 09 %
Other: 10 %
No Opinion: 4 %

Editors Note: The Ten Percent who voted against, are, they themselves Sissy Marys and therefore should be disqualified. The Four Percent who had no opinion were victims of 9-11 and therefore were dead and of course, were unable to express an opinion.

"Sissy Mary?" What the heck is that?

I must admit, your posts of late have had a "Hail Mary pass" sort of desperation about them, but somehow I doubt that's what you meant...

And I told you Jack, we already met. You aren't the only one who can walk among your enemies.

Gotta tell you too, you have a real nice place. But you might want to keep it a little cleaner next time.

Sleep well.

Anon,

You're right. We have met. I think I was behind you in the Pet Store. What on earth were you buying all those gerbils for? You and your buds had a party didn't you. Thanks for not inviting me.

I have to tell you Jack, I had a good time watching you scurry around the last few days, trying so desperately to figure out who I am. Your efforts at "investigating" are as pathetic as the fiction that you take your name from. Like all those troops in Iraq, you are constantly succumbing to friendly fire. So keep at it, I can always use a good laugh.

Sleep well.

Anon,

If you know who I am, come on up introduce yourself. You have my word of honor, that I will not beat you up right away.

Pretty Funny about you making fun of our troops getting killed in the tragic Friendly Fire incidents. And they choose to censor me.

Is someone out there man enough to admit that what you are seeing now on virtually every TV channel proves that I was right and you were wrong? Do you really wish Saddam were still in power?

Get some courage and give some to Anon,

Jack

Gee, Jack why would I want to do that? It's so much more fun to play the game the way you do. And isn't that what you want, that we should all be like you?

If you listen closely you might hear me laughing right now.

Sleep well.

I'm not shocked or in awe. This isn't a report worth arguing about. It needn't be parodied. The U.S. government does a half-assed job on trying to move people who actually care about their freedom.

Anon,

If I look closely, I think I can almost make out your pitiful unit. Ick, no wonder you are so angry.

Hello Jack Ryan,

Are you the same Jack Ryan who is the Illinois Republican Candidate for U.S. Senate?
